About this artwork
This steel sculpture is well balanced. It is fixed for safety reasons, but it would be stable without fixing, placed on its center of gravity.
I wanted to illustrate this notion of balance in asymmetry. To present an apparent instability and let our brain work to perceive the real balance of the figure. The stripped-down aesthetic of the piece highlights the volume, or more precisely the assembly of the two volumes.
Oxidation reveals shades of… ochre, dark brown, sometimes close to black. The sculpture, placed on a steel plate, is varnished for interior and exterior use.
