Monstera & Mango was inspired by the 125-year-old mango tree next to Jean-Baptiste's studio in Reunion, Choiseul, Saint Lucia. A towering giant covered and entwined in the friendly strangle of Monstera casts a guarding shade on the artist. In early summer after the humming bees have pollinated the flowers, a bounty os sweet mangoes hang on every branch.

Daniel Jean-Baptiste

« I use nature as my inspiration and silk as my canvas. »
Daniel Jean-Baptiste creates vibrant and expressive art that depicts how he sees the world with this heart. The painter, who resides in Canada, wants his pieces to awaken a love of nature within the viewer. Jean-Baptiste works with pigments on silk, painted with Sumi sheep hair brushes in a batik style, using a technique that he accidentally invented in his St. Lucia studio in the 1990s.
