About this artwork
In this creation, I wanted to capture the fragile balance between the great Nordic spaces and its life forms. The deep hues of blue contrast with the soft light, symbolizing hope in the heart of darkness. The abstract shapes in the foreground evoke a minimalist landscape, carrying a mysterious and introspective energy. This work brings an atmosphere of vibrant serenity to your space, inviting reflection and inner peace. It is part of the series North… of the North.
Daniel Lalonde is a painter and engraver, trained at UQAM and with twenty years of professional experience, working on canvas, wood, and paper. He explores the subtle interplay between abstraction and figuration, notably through glazes, rich textures, and a refined composition, suggesting fictional landscapes inspired by the North. His work invites contemplation and aims to awaken an inner resonance, allowing viewers to experience the poetry of wide-open spaces and the depths of the human soul.
Two series of works are presented: North of the North and Landscape Mosaic. North of the North is a series of paintings suggesting fictional Nordic landscapes that explore the intersection of abstraction and figuration. Landscape Mosaic is a new series that abandons the previous monochrome planes in favor of a richer chromatic spectrum, dominated by deep blues and warm ochres. The theme of landscape remains central.
