About this artwork
Albert E, oil and amber on canvas, made in May 2024. On a photograph of Albert Einstein taken on the internet, having imagined that I was the photographer and that he was posing for me, I executed this work in an absolutely classical style. I work, I specify, without an image projector on the canvas, and directly without preliminary drawing "I attack" the work with the brush, by successive layers of glaze. When I work on a portrait, like that of… Armando, or Victor Hugo, visible in this series, I have the feeling, and much more, the sensation of establishing a dialogue with the character, I seek the presence and the gaze. I work a lot on my backgrounds in a structured but intuitive way, but in the specific case of this painting, I chose sobriety to give intensity and realism in the light, to stay on the essential: his gaze and his crossed hands.
Daniel Olivier, a painter and draftsman trained from childhood, excels in the mastery of oil painting, where he experiments with mixtures of rare oils and complex glazes. He blends surrealism, symbolism, and hyperrealism, integrating the harmony of regulating lines and the golden ratio into each composition. His work reveals the poetic and energetic power of nature, inviting the viewer to profound contemplation, a search for beauty, meaning, and a sincere and luminous connection. www.danielolivierpeintre.fr Member of ADAGP, the Taylor Foundation, Mondial Art Academia, the Maxi-realists group of Dan Jacobson at Comparaison, the Circle of European Artists, Member of the Salon d'Automne and of French Artists.
