About this artwork
The Flight of the King, oil and amber on canvas, created in February, March, and April 2025. On the left column of the Rouen Cathedral portal is a group of ancient figures, sculpted in stone. I used this one, which in this painting represents the permanence of time, universal wisdom, and the Trinity: the Father. A tribute to Salvador Dalí with his Christ of Saint John of the Cross serves as a representation of the Son, carried away in the space of… time, available in the gift of self. The bird perched on the Father's hand, a cattle egret (with the permission of my friend and photographer Didier Danigo, an animal portraitist), represents, in my eyes, the Spirit, acting in the light. Through its flight, through our life choices, turned upwards, it is the link to our soul. This painting won a Silver Medal at Art Capital 2026, Grand Palais, Paris, at the Salon des Artistes Français.
Daniel Olivier, a painter and draftsman trained from childhood, excels in the mastery of oil painting, where he experiments with mixtures of rare oils and complex glazes. He blends surrealism, symbolism, and hyperrealism, integrating the harmony of regulating lines and the golden ratio into each composition. His work reveals the poetic and energetic power of nature, inviting the viewer to profound contemplation, a search for beauty, meaning, and a sincere and luminous connection. www.danielolivierpeintre.fr Member of ADAGP, the Taylor Foundation, Mondial Art Academia, the Maxi-realists group of Dan Jacobson at Comparaison, the Circle of European Artists, Member of the Salon d'Automne and of French Artists. At the Salon des Artistes Français medals: bronze in 2024, and silver in 2026. Born on November 10, 1950, in Calais, northern France. First solo exhibition in 1970. He also regularly works on commission.
