About this artwork
I live in Auvers-sur-Oise, in the Val d'Oise, not far from Vincent Van Gogh's grave. While walking through this small town, I took, with my mobile phone, the central image on the painting, restored as faithfully as possible. For a long time I wondered how to include this photo, which I like very much, in a painting. In addition to this impasse, with a house in the sun in the background, I wanted to give it a spatial, cosmic and philosophical dimension,…
by placing the planet Mars, symbol of fire, on the right, and Europa, Jupiter's satellite, an ice planet, on the left. The impasse, experienced as introspection, is an awareness of openness to the infinity of the universe, and leads us towards the wisdom of our inner peace.

Daniel Olivier, a painter and draftsman trained from childhood, excels in the mastery of oil painting, where he experiments with mixtures of rare oils and complex glazes.
