About this artwork
KARMA is a sculpture made of Pyrenean Marble. It is a unique piece worked in direct carving.
From its vertical appearance with geometric and clean lines emerges two parts of raw marble as if suspended in the void. Only the upper part of the sculpture is worked on the level of the form offering a receptacle, enhanced by a hollow gilded leaf.
The contrast between these two parts, polished and raw, marks the symbolic difference of being, the duality… that inhabits it. The gold leaf placed on the top of the sculpture marks the Spirit who enlightens us and shows us the path to follow.
It is fixed on a wooden base.

Daniel Sanchez is an award-winning sculptor based in France whose works have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally, as well as in Monaco, Luxembourg, and China. When creating with marble, he gives himself over to total improvisation, resulting in pieces that are all unique, despite a recognizable artistic style. Sanchez also employs models in clay or polyurethane foam, where the question of perpetual movement is the driving force.
