About this artwork
This cup-vase for me is not a simple container. When I model clay to create its shape, it is also its substance that takes over space. The vessel is transformation in the void of its cavity. The air that enters it is no longer the one that comes out. The sound that matter produces, in this case clay, uses its forms to make itself heard.
A vase can be filled, but I prefer to imagine it empty; free in its nature to welcome the essence of those who… look at it, of those who hold it in their hands to be carried elsewhere.
