"WǔXíng" is a porcelain lobster that merges the philosophy of wabi-sabi—the celebration of imperfection—with the Kintsugi approach, where cracks and flaws are repaired with gold, honoring the history of breakage rather than hiding it. The work also draws from the symbolic power of… the Five Elements (WǔXíng) in Chinese thought—wood, fire, earth, metal, and water—each representing movement, change, and balance.
This creature, both fragile and powerful, becomes a sculptural metaphor for transformation, resilience, and mindful consumption. In a culture that often prioritizes perfection and excess, the lobster here is no longer a mere delicacy—it becomes a contemplative object.
"WǔXíng" invites the viewer into a space where beauty is found in vulnerability, and where emotional and philosophical depth
I am a Ukrainian artist, holding a bachelor's degree in Cultural Events Directing from Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. Furthering my passion for art, I pursued Contemporary Art at the Kyiv Academy of Media Arts. Since 2013, art has been my full-time dedication. I am portraying the delicate harmony between terrestrial flora and the enigmatic depths of aquatic fauna. My work goes beyond the surface, exploring the subconscious and the intertwined connection between humanity and nature. Deeply personal, my art is a reflection of my own life experiences, shaping the narratives and emotions embedded in work. This personal influence adds layers of depth, making each piece a unique exploration of my evolving identity.
