Temporary Surface reflects on the fragile and constantly changing nature of inner states.
A luminous sky-blue field creates an open visual space, populated by fragments of pale turquoise, misty grey, warm ivory and muted mineral colours. The forms appear detached from one another, creating a quiet rhythm of distance, movement and suspension.
The work does not depict a particular landscape. Instead, it creates an emotional landscape — a space where… thoughts, memories and experiences temporarily take shape before shifting again.
The title refers to the idea that our inner structures are never entirely permanent. What feels solid at one moment may become something different with time and experience.
Within my practice, the horizon functions as a metaphor for an inner threshold between limitation and expansion, uncertainty and awareness. Temporary Surface captures a moment within that transition: quiet, open and unresolved.

Daria Vergina (b. 1987, Kohtla-Järve, Estonia) is an Estonian contemporary artist whose painting practice explores perception, inner experience, and the phenomenology of human existence through the language of abstraction.
Throughout her practice, Daria has returned to the image of the horizon, ultimately recognizing it not as a landscape motif but as an existential threshold. Working with acrylic paint and a restrained palette of blacks, greys, whites, and natural earth tones, Vergina creates contemplative compositions in which silence, emptiness, and gesture become active elements of perception.
Her artistic practice has evolved through sustained independent research, engagement with contemporary art discourse, and participation in professional educational programs. Based in Kohtla-Järve, Estonia, Daria Vergina lives and works in Estonia. She is currently expanding her international exhibition practice and developing collaborations with galleries, curators, and cultural institutions
