Flowers are soft and innocent, in group they can become sharp and precise.
My drawings represent the germ of a project, the birth of an idea before submitting to any rules. The black area represents the expansion of the idea and where it is going, it stops long before it gets there because it is still free.
Color speaks of intention, uniformity, mixing ideas, many inputs, something homogeneous... it is a way of establishing how many ideas and… how many inputs are involved.
Artwork comes with a patented swivel hanging system which allows the piece to be rotated at will.
The fact that the piece rotates has to do with the universe. Ideas in their beginning are free to go wherever they want and when it is such an incipient idea there are many ways of seeing it and many possible interpretations.
In my head, ideas are formed based on geometry, relationships, shapes and color, hence the abstract formalism that I use as a tool of expression.
Architect-cum-artist David Nadal excels in ink sketches and large-scale prints. Melding abstract formalism with mid-century modern aesthetics, he creates swift, layered drawings with bold colors against black backgrounds. His innovative oeuvre encapsulates the fleeting first instant of an idea, an explosive "big bang" of creativity.
