Darshana Congreve, an artist of Anglo-Sri Lankan origin who grew up in Paris, now favors oil painting and watercolor, following a successful musical career. He appropriates academic conventions with virtuoso technical skill, while simultaneously subverting them to create a figurative style that lies between surrealism and hyperrealism, tinged with dreamlike imagery, the uncanny, and UFOlogy.
