About this artwork
In this suspended nocturnal scene, a hybrid creature—part fairy, part bird—crosses the sky like a fleeting thought. Its tapered beak and angel wings give it a presence that is both fragile and archaic, while its body, studded with glimmers and micro-electrical discharges, seems to vibrate with an elusive inner energy.
The moon, in the background, doesn't so much illuminate as reveal: it brings this apparition to life like a fragment of a dream… made visible. The work thus oscillates between gentleness and tension, between enchantment and strangeness, inviting the gaze to lose itself in a space where the mystery is not to be solved, but to be inhabited.

Darshana Congreve, an artist of Anglo-Sri Lankan origin who grew up in Paris, now favors oil painting and watercolor, following a successful musical career. He appropriates academic conventions with virtuoso technical skill, while simultaneously subverting them to create a figurative style that lies between surrealism and hyperrealism, tinged with dreamlike imagery, the uncanny, and UFOlogy. Through his works, he conveys an introspective force, inviting each viewer to transcend the boundaries of reality and open themselves to an experience where the mind and magic are intensely intertwined.
