About this artwork
Total Surrender's torso and arms were one-half of a large wood thing
I found at a thrift store. I still don't know what it was, but I
bought it for $15. It looked like part of a table. Oak maybe?
I felt some anxiety about my purchase because the thing was so big
and I had no clear idea of what I would do with it. I'm happy to say
that I managed to use all of it, both halves, whatever it was, in my
sculptures. Total Surrender's face was found on… eBay, as were its
hands. The hands were part of a napkin holder that I disassembled.
All components of this sculpture were originally unpainted. I
painted them.
