About this artwork
In this work, I seek to capture that instant before daybreak, when the light is still a whisper and the body seems to awaken from within. The figure raises its face upward, as if wanting to receive the first breath of dawn. I am interested in working with the skin in very defined, almost faceted planes, where each tone conveys a different aspect of the emotion.
The dominant red isn't pure drama; it's life. It's the heartbeat just before the day… begins, when one is alone with their own strength. I leave some areas unpainted so the light can breathe, so the portrait retains that feeling of something unfinished, fragile yet powerful.
The gaze doesn't seek an answer; it seeks air. It's an intimate, silent search. That's why the background remains neutral, unobstructed: only the gaze and the light about to arrive. It's a tribute to beginnings, to the small, everyday resurrections we all experience without realizing it.
