About this artwork
In this portrait, I seek to capture the precise moment when identity is laid bare. The figure appears frontal, direct, yet not defiant. It is a face suspended, poised between what it feels and what it keeps silent. I am interested in working the skin in very defined, almost fragmented layers of color, creating an emotional map where each tone reveals a distinct tension.
I don't pursue academic realism; I pursue the truth of gesture. I leave areas… unpolished and abrupt contrasts so that the image retains a living, imperfect, human energy. The white light—applied in clean blocks—functions like breathing, like small spaces where the figure opens up and lets through some vulnerability.
