About this artwork
This is a 'plein air' study painted from the South Bank near Tower Bridge. The work considers the fusion of the elements of water and sky with those man-made, and looks at the colours and patterns within each. It is one of a series of 'studies' of the Thames painted on the spot.

David Caldwell is a multi-faceted British painter. He was born in Helensburgh, Scotland and studied at the Glasgow School of Art. He continued his studies at The Royal Drawing School, thereafter deciding to venture into a career as an artist. He works within the genres of landscape, portrait and still life in a figurative style.
