About this artwork
Artist designer David Chevtaikin designed the grasshopper table influenced by the character Wan Chan Cain ( David Carradine) from a 70's movie he was captivated by. He is an orphan who was raised by monks in a monastery in a hidden temple. Cain was studied the martial arts and when it was time for him to leave, he would be able to, if he could grab a pebble quickly enough from the elderly blind monk who was his master.
Cain was called " grasshopper… by the other monks and children.
Years later the mystique of this character and the actor David Carradine was also admired and used in Tarantino 's film "KILL Bill".
The grasshopper table can display or feature books of art and knowledge while sipping green tea or matcha, as well as capture anyone's attention to this well designed and creative table, which travels lightly by shipping flat and easily assembled by one a few inter locking pieces.
The artist is also influenced by zen, the philosophy of the yin and yang.
