About this artwork
This work has its source in the observation of the urban landscape in which the artist lives. The artist uses the mediums of woodcut, monotype and acrylic paint. To design this great work, he engraves modules in poplar wood. Then he prints them with a spoon and a wooden tip, which allows a sensitive and expressive impression. This work is made on paper mounted on canvas stretched on a frame.

« What I try to convey in my paintings is a certain notion of silence. The repetition of a pattern brings me closer to this silent sensation. »
David Clerc is an artist based in France who has exhibited his paintings nationally, as well as in Germany, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. His minimalist and abstract expressionist works are deeply rooted in the landscape he lives in and is part of. Currently, Clerc paints as often as he can outdoors, allowing the landscape to become his studio, exposing paintings are to the rain, wind, and sun. His compositions are also influenced by the geometrical motifs of Cistercian stained glass.
