About this artwork
I'm an artist creating abstract paintings, mostly using acrylics and ink. And LANARK IV is the first of these paintings in a series based on my memories, imaginings, together with real events of my life as a boy growing up in Scotland, in the small town named Lanark.
Creating Lanark II for me has been an intense process, combining a trip down memory lane with a rollercoaster of emotions. And I am delighted with the resulting minimalistic abstract… piece of art.
For the viewer, or future owner of this painting, my wish is that a subtle interpretation of beauty, open space and rawness in the image combine to create an image which pulls you in, captures your attention and sparks off a series of ongoing intimate conversations with you.
The painting is sealed with a protective plant-based matt finish and transparent coating. The painting is ready to hang. And the painting is delivered complete with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

David Drain is a Scottish artist, living in the South of Germany close to the Swiss border and the beautiful art city Basel.
