About this artwork
The olive tree is the great symbol of peace. According to the Bible, the dove brought an olive branch to Noah's Ark as a message that the Great Flood had ended. For me, as a painter, olive oil symbolizes the oil like that from which I create my art. This tree is in a park in the middle of Jerusalem. It stands in an orchard of olive trees. The branches of each tree form dancing gestures like the arms of people praying.

David Louis asserts that the painting should speak for itself. The Israeli painter, who has extensively exhibited on a national level, feels that the emotional elements which combine in even the simplest of paintings are too complex to record in any way other than through the work itself. Through his works, Louis wants to lull the viewer into a reverie. He has recently set aside his main medium of oils in favor of watercolors.
