About this artwork
"La vernissage" is a series of four 10x7cm oil paintings made by David Mostacci in 2017.
This series represents from different point of view a naked woman sitting on the floor of a blue and green bathroom. It manipulates his feet to varnish his nails.
The artist reveals us a moment everyday, a futile moment staged with finesse.
Indeed, the different frames offered by this series of four paintings give a cinematographic dimension and movement.… The complementarity between the color of the subject in a range of red ocher and the blue and green of the environment in which it is located highlights the skin and gives it a certain warmth. The meticulousness in the execution and the details that we can observe show us a daily life under an elegant angle.
Is it really about an opening of toes or is it a metaphor to express a vision on the painter's opening?
