About this artwork
This series of acrylic paintings on paper is inspired by a series of drawing made in mixed media by David in the early 1990's. He is am often asked what inspires him. In this case he has a large back catalogue of work which he sometimes loops back to. In this case he wanted to explore spontaneous and expressive mark making. The original works referenced the archaeology of an English landscape however the new work is more about what is visible.

Credentials
- Experienced Artist
« My work is a joyous celebration of the English landscape, abstracted into colorful patterns. »
U.K.-based painter David O'Connor knew from the age of 10 that he would be an artist. This set him apart from his nine brothers, most of whom are engineers. O'Connor begins with the memory of a place, creating basic sketches and occasionally referencing photographs, but quickly allows the painting to develop a life of its own. O'Connor works with acrylics in order to create multiple layers, adding a kind of archaeology in each painting. Jewel-toned and evocative, O'Connor's landscapes beautifully balance abstraction with remembered topography.
