I painted this watercolor, "Transposal", in 2022. Huge cumulus clouds march low in formation across an immense expanse of sky in eastern Maryland past endless fields of corn. A gradation of grey-blue rain clouds, from dark to light, carpets the high skies above creating a transpose of negative and positive shape. Twenty-five years ago, I witnessed such a phenomenal transition and it never left me. In an effort to let this image go, I put it to paper.
