Despite the stark contrast between the natural beauty of the beach and the old rusty industry in the background, the boy felt a sense of freedom and excitement as he began to run. His feet pounded against the sand, his arms pumped along his sides and his heart raced with adrenaline.
As he continued running, the boy began to feel connected to the beach and the industry in the background. He realized that both parts of the world were necessary and… could coexist in harmony. Industry provided jobs, goods and services to people around the world, while the beach provided a space for people to connect with nature and find peace.

DB Waterman is a painter and photographer who hails from the Netherlands, with work exhibited in the United States, Europe and New Zealand. Her creative goal is to “make something beautiful out of dilapidation” through the mediums of paint, photography and collage. She uses original photographs, acrylics, oil, charcoal, ink and pencils in her works. Having always loved the appearance of peeling paint, weathered walls and old posters, she revives this aesthetic in her pieces.
