About this artwork
This painting is the first in a new series. the work is influenced by a dream I had flying through clouds. At times you can just make out the ground through the cloud and then it becomes clearer as you breakthrough completely, seeing the rural landscape below. There are many layers to this painting where I have used light colour tints around the edge of the painting to represent the diffused nature of viewing the land through a thin vail of cloud.…
Towards the centre of the piece I have used strong vibrant colour, signifying a clear view of the land below.

Dean OCallaghan is an artist based in Australia whose paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. Inspired by American Minimalism and Russian Suprematism, he continuously explores new manners of employing hard-edge minimalist techniques. Although abstract, OCallaghan's compositions are not concerned with mathematical or color theories. Instead, they are based on his experiences of reality. He creates using acrylics on canvas.
