About this artwork
Working and living in a small country town in Western Australia, I feel fortunate to have escaped the stresses of being confined in one’s home or unit, as many people have experienced around the world during the Covid 19 pandemic.
The creation of this work, the geometric structure, and the use of predominately warm colours, expresses a sense of security. It is soon replaced however, with a feeling of confinement intensified seeing the glow of the… morning sky presented through the window to the outside world.

Dean OCallaghan is an artist based in Australia whose paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. Inspired by American Minimalism and Russian Suprematism, he continuously explores new manners of employing hard-edge minimalist techniques. Although abstract, OCallaghan's compositions are not concerned with mathematical or color theories. Instead, they are based on his experiences of reality. He creates using acrylics on canvas.
