About this artwork
This work is influenced by my experience of New York architecture. Structural columns, reflective glass and coloured exterior cladding created an ideal subject for my painting. I have also experimented in using both Western and traditional Japanese perspective to create movement throughout the work.

« As a contemporary artist, acknowledging the value of art history provides the stimulus to create work that is new and unique. »
Dean OCallaghan is an artist based in Australia whose paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. Inspired by American Minimalism and Russian Suprematism, he continuously explores new manners of employing hard-edge minimalist techniques. Although abstract, OCallaghan's compositions are not concerned with mathematical or color theories. Instead, they are based on his experiences of reality. He creates using acrylics on canvas.
