About this artwork
Sometimes it's nice to be anonymous in a crowd and sometimes you need some breathing room. The woman on the left has stepped away and given herself that room. The figures in the background are blurred so the focus remains on the women in the foreground and the space that she has allowed herself. The space also allows the viewer a sense of peace.
« In loving my neighbor, I seek to capture and convey the uniqueness of every person to hopefully inspire others to stop and linger with those we come in contact with. »
Debbie Pacheco's paintings capture a fleeting moment. The American artist creates scenes with differing degrees of focus and realism. Pacheco describes the cities where she travels as the backdrops for her compositions. Her artistic expression is influenced by people, their stories, the cities where she observes them, and the connections they share. She creates using oils on canvas, paper, or wood.
