About this artwork
I love the change of seasons. Doesn't it feel like things are so much more beautiful in the fall and spring? Don't get me wrong. I love a sunny summer day and a sparkling snowy winter scene. I do. But there is something about the autumnal colors that stops me in my tracks. Plus, I love candles, gourds and flowers. Put it all together, and I had so much fun painting this piece.
What memories come to mind for you when you see this bouquet? Are you… like me, smiling and recalling fond moments with family and friends? Good. I put a smile in your heart, and my work here is done. :)
Debra Keirce, a painter and drawer with a background in biochemical engineering, masterfully works in oils and charcoal, drawing from rigorous classical training. She employs layered, tightly rendered traditional realism—often achieved through indirect techniques reminiscent of the Dutch Masters—across genres from photorealistic still lifes and marine art to portraits and fantastical beasts. Her artworks invite viewers into immersive narratives, evoking warm memories, wonder, and joy, aiming always to resonate with emotion and contribute positively to the well-being of those who experience her art.
