About this artwork
Fragment of Presence III is part of the Cabinet Edition Series, a body of intimate works exploring the unstable threshold between academic portraiture and perceptual dissolution. With this piece, I wanted the image to feel suspended — as though the face were slowly emerging from memory while never fully settling into clarity.
Certain features appear with precision, while others dissolve into the surface, absorbed by atmosphere, texture, and light.… The image remains fragile, incomplete, and almost hesitant. I am less interested in representation than in that unstable moment where presence and disappearance coexist.
The small scale of the Cabinet Edition transforms the work into a quieter, more intimate experience, inviting a slower, more attentive gaze.
