Denise Driscoll's "Circles 34" is composed of dots that float above a pattern of interlocking circles arranged on a penciled grid. The underlayers of paint are applied in delicate fractals and washes of magenta, orange, yellow and green. A layer of iridescent dots form an interlocking network of petals and circles that is pierced by deep black shapes. Denise Driscoll is an established, prizewinning artist. Her work is held in both public and private collections worldwide. Driscoll is an abstract painter who's work pursues the invisible and the unseen: another being’s inner space, interaction and power within groups, and the immense tangle of information that flows through us each day. She draws inspiration from magical realism, speculative fiction, and philosophy among other topics. Her paintings are characterized by accumulated marks and repetition of form, often squares, circles, and ovals that weave together to represent an imaginary map of exchange: between organisms, across entire species, or within an individual.
