About this artwork
This piece is an abstract interpretation of a floral inspiration painted in acrylic using palette knives. It is part of a new collection of floral paintings that I am working on. It is a departure from realism and the figure that I usually do. I am enjoying the bold, colorful and expressive approach.

Denise Henley is an award-winning painter, who was born in Guyana and now resides in the United States. In her art, she expresses the complexities and beauty of the human form using an elegant simplicity. Henley’s portraits are created to evoke quiet and intimate contemplation. She mainly works using the mediums of oil, pastel and acrylic. She admits that though the human form is beautiful, it can be the most difficult of subjects and one she remains intrigued by.
