Holding the Room is part of the Idea of a Woman series. The figure has no face — and needs none. She stands at the center of the space not as a subject to be read, but as a presence to be felt. The red holds everything together: body, room, attention. Around her, the interior exists in fragments — a sofa, a floor, a wall — as if the space is still assembling itself around her stillness.

Denys Chumachenko is a painter based in Spain. His work moves between abstraction and the figure — bodies that don't fully resolve, forms assembled from gesture, color, and spatial tension rather than narrative.
Over ten years of practice, he has developed a visual language where the figure becomes a field of internal states: present but unstable, recognizable but not fixed.
