About this artwork
This rectangular format is not very common for the artist who usually prefers to work on square formats.
The background of this painting is made with "broken" whites with very light browns in order to give vibration to the whole. Then, blues, blacks and browns were quickly "thrown" onto the canvas with an energetic but restrained gesture to obtain inclusions of nuances and a little volume.
If this last phase of composition on this vibrant background… only lasted a few brief moments, it was preceded by a sufficiently long moment of meditation and concentration for the artist to refocus his energies before "liberating" them on the surface. canvas.
As with most of the artist's works, this one can be viewed horizontally or vertically. It is signed on the back.
« To arouse emotions, to try to glimpse the invisible, and to approach the shores of the infinite. »
Through abstract oil paintings, Denys Eustace explores a quest for meaning where philosophy and painting intertwine. His works, nourished by Taoist and Greco-Roman thought, question emptiness, infinity, and impermanence. He is not inspired by the canvases of the masters, but by their writings and research: his in-depth study of Kandinsky's Concerning the Spiritual in Art, for example, the questions posed by Klee and Mondrian, as well as the voices of Lao Tzu, Heraclitus, Pascal, and Shitao, guide his approach. A self-taught painter, he complemented his training with art history courses at the École du Louvre and by giving lectures. His work has been featured in around one hundred exhibitions, both in France and abroad. He lives and works between Paris and Normandy.
