Spiritually, for me, it's an elevation, an elevation towards the light or towards knowledge. Something is suspended in this canvas. One can ascend or descend, distance oneself from the turmoil of daily life and try to reach calm and serenity... But the path can be paved with obstacles. Fortunately, the purity of the white sends a light of hope and expectation, through the sky, through the clouds...

Through abstract oil paintings, Denys Eustace explores a quest for meaning where philosophy and painting intertwine. His works, nourished by Taoist and Greco-Roman thought, question emptiness, infinity, and impermanence. He is not inspired by the canvases of the masters, but by their writings and research: his in-depth study of Kandinsky's Concerning the Spiritual in Art, for example, the questions posed by Klee and Mondrian, as well as the voices of Lao Tzu, Heraclitus, Pascal, and Shitao, guide his approach.
A self-taught painter, he complemented his training with art history courses at the École du Louvre and by giving lectures. His work has been featured in around one hundred exhibitions, both in France and abroad. He lives and works between Paris and Normandy.
