About this artwork
Magnificent medium-sized canvas! Shades of blue, obviously, enhanced with orangey-reds.
The canvas plays a major role in this creation: through the fineness of the paint in certain places which allows the grain of the canvas to show through and makes the whole vibrate with these thousands of small dots which suggest horizontal lines contrasting with the curves of the upper part of the painting; also through the canvas left blank in some places on… the left, this deliberate absence of material materializing for the artist the middle void of Taoist philosophy which allows yin and yang to communicate permanently and gives its energy and strength to the painting.
In the background, the light illuminates the entire work and takes the viewer into the most soothing dreams.

Through abstract oil paintings, Denys Eustace explores a quest for meaning where philosophy and painting intertwine. His works, nourished by Taoist and Greco-Roman thought, question emptiness, infinity, and impermanence. He is not inspired by the canvases of the masters, but by their writings and research: his in-depth study of Kandinsky's Concerning the Spiritual in Art, for example, the questions posed by Klee and Mondrian, as well as the voices of Lao Tzu, Heraclitus, Pascal, and Shitao, guide his approach.
A self-taught painter, he complemented his training with art history courses at the École du Louvre and by giving lectures. His work has been featured in around one hundred exhibitions, both in France and abroad. He lives and works between Paris and Normandy.
