About this artwork
“Omode Meta 2” reflects a familiar childhood ritual that many boys or children experienced long before they understood its place in shaping them. Within Boy Child Experience 2, the work considers the lessons hidden inside ordinary routines. The work focuses on what it meant and felt to wait, watch, compare, belong, and learn where we fit among others.
The three figures stand close together, each carrying a different response to the same experience.… There is impatience, curiosity, resistance, and acceptance all existing within the same shared moment. Their closeness creates a sense of collective experience, while their expressions reveal the individuality that remains within it.
This work speaks to anyone who remembers childhood not through major events, but through the rituals that marked growing up. It invites reflection on how identity is shaped within shared experiences, and how little moments often stay with us long after we leave them behind.

Deolu Femi is a self-taught Lagos-based artist who transforms paper into evocative, relief sculptural works, drawing on his background in Geophysics and Nigerian experience.
