Die Pimmelsymbole malt Matthias Kopp in Anlehnung an die „Pimmelschmierereien“ aus der Schulzeit, in der
diese Symbole, wie zum Teil auch heute noch, Tisch und Bänke zier(t)en oder verunstalte(te)n bzw. gar
beschädig(t)en.
Es geht dem Künstler um die Neubewertung des fortgeführten „Gekritzels“ unter dem selbsterklärenden
Künstlernamen nach dem Motto: „von der Schultafel ins Museum“ oder „Kreatives Scheitern vor dem
Ausgang des menschlichen Schicksals“.…
Der Pimmelmaler, das Alter Ego des Künstlers Matthias Kopp huldigt dem Motiv aus Schülertagen und erhebt es zum Lebensinhalt, verlangt nach der künstlerischen Akzeptanz und will durch diese Verklärung und Zuführung im selben Zusammenhang das Dasein und dessen Ausgang mit diesem

The "Pimmelmaler" (Penis Painter) is initially a word mark protected and registered by the artist Matthias Kopp since March 20, 2001, with the number 30168956, file number 30168.
Against this background, Matthias Kopp (* 28.08.1967, Kassel) also legally and officially refers to himself as The Penis Painter and produces paintings under the name The Penis Painter that exclusively contain the scribbled, childlike depiction of the male genitalia.
Matthias Kopp paints the penis symbols in reference to the "penis graffiti" from his school days, when these symbols, as is still partly the case today, adorned or defaced or even damaged tables and benches "again or rather still." (Diary, 1999; age 32)
The artist is concerned with re-evaluating the continued "scribbles" under the self-explanatory artist name, according to the motto: "from the blackboard to the museum" or "creative failure before the end of human destiny".
