About this artwork
This work started out as a very different composition and then transferred into this very figurative abstract work that it is, it is mainly an attempt to create a mystical metaphorical Painting that can Live as Abstract as well as a figurative Painting.

In his hometown of Cologne, Detlef Gotzens had the opportunity to work with masters of stained glass. He continued to study glass technology, and it wasn't until he moved to Canada that he began to incorporate painting into his work as well. The result is a collection of vibrant, vivid pieces that show his mastery of color. His abstract artworks are created using a mix of mediums, using acrylics, oils and pastels.
