About this artwork
Reaching for the Moon is a deeply personal celebration of striving, dreaming, and the transformative power of the journey itself. As a child, I dreamed of becoming Miss America. I studied former winners, honed my dance, and entered every pageant I could—becoming Richmond’s Junior Miss, Miss Southeastern Indiana, Miss Indiana State Fair, and first runner-up to both Miss Indiana and the 500 Festival Queen.
Though I didn’t win the ultimate crown, the… pursuit shaped me in beautiful, lasting ways. It taught me confidence, grace, discipline, and the courage to shine.
This painting echoes that journey. The egret, a symbol of spiritual clarity and perseverance, rises through a violet cosmos toward a radiant gold moon—symbolizing the dreams that guide us. Even when the moon remains just out of reach, we find ourselves transformed by the flight.
Diana Jaffe is an oil painter whose work radiates peace and joy. Known for her luminous, light-infused paintings, she weaves symbols of nature—snowy egrets, butterflies, flowers, and golden circles—into visual meditations on beauty and resilience.
At the heart of her art is the belief that joy is a choice, a source of strength and renewal. Each canvas becomes a sanctuary of light, inviting the viewer to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the deeper rhythms of life. Often adorned with shimmering metal leaf and delicate details, her work carries a spiritual essence meant to uplift and inspire.
From her marshside studio in Hilton Head Island, surrounded by wildflowers and migrating birds, Diana creates paintings that speak soul to soul—gentle reminders to choose peace, embrace joy, and find light in every season.
