Separation is an example of using unconventional tools including a trowel and squidgy. The painting is layered with soft and hard edges. The hard edges of the white shapes that were painted first move forward and the soft edged white shapes seem to blend into the surface with the rest of the paint. 3D glasses truly enhances the viewing experience. Mansard, Division and Separation were all painted with very similar processes, and one can see the final effects show great similarities. If you get the chance to look at my abstracts with 3D glasses, you will be surprised at how alive abstract paintings look and feel as shapes receded or come forward on the surface of the painting.
