About this artwork
Separation is an example of using unconventional tools including a trowel and squidgy. The painting is layered with soft and hard edges. The hard edged white shapes painted first move forward and the soft edged white shapes seem to blend into the surface with the rest of the paint. I love this ability to create 3D effects with abstracts. Looking at the images with 3D glasses enhances the viewing experience. Mansard, Division and Separation… were all painted with very similar processes, and one can see the final effects show great similarities.
