About this artwork
Inspired by the huge statue of a horse's head from the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus at the British Museum, this painting captures the strength of horses in battle - entitled "Victor" to suggest victory and triumph.
The swirling background is reminiscent of ancient mosaics and was created using handmade paper and recycled polystyrene, individually cut and placed to create texture and contrast with the smooth surface of the marble horse.
