About this artwork
When I first experienced Chinse Literati painting I felt a strong connection with expressing the rhythms of nature rather than a literal interpretation of it. I began to introduce the patterning and flatness of stencil work flowers. My son who was a graffiti artist taught me to cut stencils and from there I began an innovative technique of using the brush with the stencil rather than the better-known method of spray paint.

« The journey of abstraction is not easy, because there are no visual points of reference. I approach each blank canvas as a potential, a seed waiting for fertilization, gestation, and birth. »
Diane Williams is an American artist whose paintings have been widely exhibited in the United States. Having shifted her artistic focus towards tranquility, her compositions emphasize the potential of nature and the human spirit. Williams' paintings reflect a meditative calm with "an assurance of resiliency and resolve to heal the soul". Her multi-layered pieces are imbued with intuitive color and bold brushwork as a vehicle for the voice of the strong feminine, weaving nature's story across time.
