About this artwork
The garden. My personal haven. Though gardening at this high elevation holds it's challenges, its rewards far outweigh the effort. To say that my garden restores my soul is to speak nothing but the truth. This painting was inspired by an incredible crop of iris that graced the front of my home. Cut and put in a favorite vase, I wanted to capture their joy.

Dianna Cates Dunn is an American artist who describes herself as an abstract layerist. She believes that the creation of art and the viewing of art form a relationship. For Dunn, relationships are the essence of the human condition. Through the illumination of small emotions, intimate feelings, joyous hope and forsaken yearnings, her work strives to allow "tender memories to be stirred and inner connections to be made". She creates using acrylics and collage on canvas or wood.
