I have always been captivated by the beauty of Bauhinia during my daily morning walks to the park, adjacent to my apartment in Delhi NCR. I used to spent hours gazing at the beautiful flowers, buds, and leaves. The strange allure of gnarled trunks and branches were even more enticing, transporting me to a different realm.
It took me several months, feeling and absorbing the essence of the Bauhinia, to finally use the inspiration to get creative.… The feeling to create was so intense that I must have picked-up hundreds of fallen flowers and leaves, and brought them home to study the form and texture. Against my liking, I had to even pluck a few buds, for which I asked for forgiveness from the tree.
The final artwork is the result of my attempt to bridge the gap between the sensory experiences and the deep inner feeling of love and reverence for the natural world. Engagement with this artwork will evoke mysticism and lead to the feeling of bliss.
« Life is an unbroken flow of joy that I attempt to express through my art. »
Divyendu Anand is a sculptor based in India whose works have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. He believes that knowingly and unknowingly, humans seek the infinite and transcendental. The quest to "know unknown forms" is the basis for Anand's works. For him, the medium of creation must be as malleable as possible to give form to his creativity. The material is immaterial, as long as it evokes a sense of freedom and bliss.
