About this artwork
This impressionist painting represents the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. The Mekong River approaches and empties into the sea which is shown in the bottom portion of the landscape. The Delta is very rich and lush covered with rice fields in the upper portion of the painting below the mountains. The technique is almost sfumato in that the colors run together to form shapes and lines with no visible brush strokes. The colors are harmonious and soft but…
full of rich texture. The sky is a blue gray representing open spaces and sensitivity to the many wars fought over this land.
