He started ‘The Flood’ series from a dream during a difficult time in his life. In the dream he was saving his wife from drowning in a flood by standing upon their partially submerged Saab. The image came as a metaphor, one that he recognized overlapped with his penchant for expressive brushwork and captured several thematic angles both autobiographical, environmental, biblical, political, and with ‘rites of passage’. from his past; a job as a lifeguard, global warming, images of freedom(autos) confounded, natures' fury, swimming in abandoned Midwest Ohio quarries, baptism, water runoff and erosion of both soil and relationships.
