About this artwork
This work is the first in the Destruction series. It is part of a philosophical reflection on chance and necessity. This series attempts to answer the following question: What does chaos teach us about the necessity of things?
The whole question is based on this principle of haphazard destruction, using a compressed air device, which once finished, offers a spectacle that seems necessary. Could this painting have been different? Why did I decide… to stop at this point?
This first work marks the transition to a new reflection and new techniques. It is in the garage of my childhood (where I recently moved), that I found this new inspiration. This work marks the beginning of a series.

Alexis Gouguec, trained in philosophy, is also an autodidact with a passion for painting. His style oscillates between the abstract and the figurative, mainly using the knife as a tool to give volume and texture to his works. The philosophical themes of necessity and chance are explored by Gouguec, his works sometimes revealing faces and eyes, reflections of pareidolia. Thus, his works express the eternal need to paint and contemplate complex concepts in a new and colorful way.
