About this artwork
Memories collected and sorted, stowed in compartments and drawers. A lot has accumulated over the years, old photographs / negatives, found objects. They are symbols of buried experiences, old stories and things that have been forgotten. Patina has settled on the memories, thick layers prevent the view of bygone days, but in between it flashes through again and again, there are still ways and insights, and so the memories come back.

Doris Maile is an experienced artist based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally and in France. Through her art, she endeavors not to depict reality, but rather, to create a world of her own. Inspired by what concerns and moves her, Maile's liberated and abstracted artistic process invites color chaos, which she then transforms into compositional order through varying techniques.
